Learning Experience Design

I do end-to-end design and development for a variety of situations. Curriculum design, eLearning, performance support, gamification — you name it, I've done it!

Note: Most of my recent LXD work cannot be hosted publicly (you know how it is). If you're curious to see more, reach out to me.

The 2020 Trail video game was built for a very wide audience. Some players were experienced gamers, others were first time players with no familiarity with game design conventions. I used my ID skills to help ensure a frustration-free playing experience for all.

When Amazon designed a new annual review process focusing on strengths-based growth, I created the training and resources to support. I owned the training for this process for several years, gathering feedback and iterating to improve guidance over time.

To help Amazon employees write great promotion documents, I created a comprehensive, example- and practice-rich training website. It was responsive, fully accessible, and included dynamic translation functionality based on user selection out of 12 languages.

This gamified elearning module was designed to simulate a fraud investigator's work conditions in a safe (and fun) practice environment. Each "cave" represents a portion of an online seller's account the investigator can explore, but with limited "oxygen", efficiency is key!

This PDF credit application used by sales associates requires many details. Some require calculation or are simply hard for an associate to remember. JavaScript was used to automate many parts of this form, increasing the speed of completion and reducing errors.

  • Automatic population of Merchant # based on check company and location selected via drop-down menu
  • Automatic population of dates where possible
  • Easy date pickers for all other dates
  • If "Crosscheck" application is selected, automatic calculation of first check amount based on total contract amount
  • Automatic calculation of check totals

When my training team was struggling with a tedious, error-prone reporting process, I added VBA Macros to the raw Excel report generated by the LMS to automate the process. Time to complete decreased from hours to minutes!

image of GemQuest flashcard examples

This is a simple 2-player card game to help new sales associates practice using the Robbins Brothers selling system to overcome various client objections.

One player takes the role of “client” and deals the client objection cards. The other player takes the role of “sales associate” and responds with cards representing each point of the selling system. If the associate player does not select the appropriate response for a given client objection, the associate must take both cards. If their response is appropriate, the client must take both cards. The object of the game is to run out of cards.
